Griptober 2016
Saturday, October 22nd, 2016
Edmonton, Alberta
Events:
Grippers - One hand contested - As per the GHP certification rules. Within the contest more reps will beat less reps on the same gripper and any reps on a gripper strength above beats any reps of a lower gripper. Example: Closing a GHP7 once will beat closing a GHP6 with any amount of reps performed.
Three attempts will be permitted with the highest attempt qualifying.
Euro 2-Hand Pinch - Rules as per Gripsport.org (http://www.gripsport.org/rules.htm). The athlete must lift the apparatus in a Double Overhand Pinch Grip and touch the loading bar to the cross-bar, which sits 16.5-inches high, measured to the bottom of the stick. The lifter does not have to be erect upon completion of the attempt.
The lifter must lower the weight under control. If the outer discs accidentally touch the stick before the bar itself, referee’s discretion will be used to judge whether the correct height was attained. Pinch gripping the discs using an unorthodox underhand grip will not be allowed.
There will be four attempts allowed, rising bar.
2" Vertical Bar - One hand contested - Rules as per Gripsport.org(http://www.gripsport.org/rules.htm). The lifter grips the top of the vertical bar with one hand. The lifter must pull the vertical bar at least 2 inches off the ground and then return the vertical bar to the floor under control. If the vertical bar is not lifted 2 inches or if the vertical bar slips out of the lifter's grip, the attempt is failed.
There will be four attempts allowed, rising bar.
Ironmind Hub - One hand contested - Rules as per Ironmind (http://www.ironmind.com/certification/ironmind-hub/rules-and-world-records/)
"The lifter starts the lift with all 5 fingertips of the lifting hand touching the plate at the base of the Hub. It is permissible that the fingers rotate somewhat from this position during the course of the lift, but holding the Hub as if grabbing a doorknob is not allowed.
The lifter must stand up straight; once standing straight the lifter waits for a down signal from the referee before returning the weight to the ground. Contact must be maintained by the lifter's hand and the Hub until the weight is resting on the floor. The referee then indicates if the lift was accepted.
In contest situations, we give the lifter 1 minute to complete the lift after his/her name is called; during that minute, there is no limit to how many times the lifter may try to complete the lift."
There will be four attempts allowed (1 minute each), rising bar.
Event 4 - A fourth event is possible depending on time and the need for a tie-breaker.
Plates will be certified Eleiko's with the exception of those used for the 2" V-bar which will be weighed on a scale used in current IPF competion.
